Earl Gordon Zeldenrust

Earl Gordon Zeldenrust, of Hesperia, Michigan, passed away on March 26, 2022. Earl was born June 12, 1940, the son of Robert Geert Zeldenrust and Elfrieda Caroline (Kriesel) Zeldenrust. On April 2, 2016, he married Nancy (Kelly) Zeldenrust, who survives him. Earl graduated from Fremont High School, where he played football for the team. He remained an area resident for his entire lifetime.

            Earl enjoyed his career in the farming and livestock industries. Farming was a part of his life since early childhood since his days of working on his father’s dairy farm, eventually owing his own family dairy farm. Since the 1990’s, he has owned and operated Zeldenrust Trucking, a livestock hauling business in support of the cattle industry. Earl was a proud member of Future Farmers of America and was always pleased to see each generation continue in farming.

            Earl was a personable man who made friends easily. Greeting people and striking up a conversation was a gift he enjoyed. He could tell a good story and possessed a good sense of humor. Earl met his wife Nancy at a Euchre tournament and he was always ready to play a hand. Earl and Nancy would travel to Euchre tournaments throughout the State of Michigan. Friendships were treasured by Earl; he was loyal and he cared for many, and he was cared for in return. He was blessed beyond measure.

            Earl is survived by his three sons: James (Donna) Zeldenrust, Robert (Marva) Zeldenrust, and Charles (Michael Moulds) Zeldenrust, his stepson Christopher Kelly, and his sister Ruth Beebe.  Earl’s grandchildren include Laura (Bret) Zagorski, Daniel (Kay) Zeldenrust, James (Meghan) Zeldenrust, and Brooke Zeldenrust and her fiancé Nick Baker. His great-grandchildren include, Claire Zagorski, Anton Zagorski, Andrea Zeldenrust, and Zane Zeldenrust. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Harold Zeldenrust, and his sister, Jean Zahrt.

            To celebrate Earl’s life, the funeral will take place at 12:00 Noon on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Church of the Living Christ, 605 Hemlock Street, Fremont, Michigan. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon also at church. Burial will be at Bridgeton Township Cemetery. Memorials in honor of Earl can be directed to the Newaygo County Compassion Home; or to Nancy for assistance with Earl’s funeral expenses.
