Eugene “Dale” Hooker, age 84 of Fremont, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior and was reunited with his wife Eleanor on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. He was born on January 9, 1942 in Fremont, Michigan to Myreenus & Helene (Bartels) Hooker.
Dale was an active member of Reeman Christian Reformed Church where he enjoyed welcoming visitors, and where he had been a volunteer for Wellspring Adult Day Services. He had been a farmer with his brother Harley for many years, and he had been a custodian at Fremont High School. Dale loved sitting around the campfire and talking.
Dale was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor on January 27, 2026, who he married on February 17, 1961. He was also preceded in death by his sister & brothers and their spouses: Virginia & Carl Sneller, Marve & Gerry Hooker, Harley & Arlene Hooker, Louis “Lou” Hooker, Les & Sylvia Hooker; and by his sister-in-law, Mary Spira.
Dale is survived by 3 children: Jeff (Violet) Hooker of Fremont, Julie (Mike) Menke of Medina, Ohio, Mike Hooker of Fremont; 5 grandchildren: Allen (Hannah) Hooker, Elly Dale Hooker, Lauren (Ryan) Manton, Alex (Camille) Menke, Ashtyn (Harry) Braafhart; 1 great-grandson, Aspen Hooker. He is also survived by his sisters & brother: Corrine (Duane) Burt, Barb (Stan) Witte, Lloyd (Sally) Hoekert; sisters-in-law: Verla Hooker, Carol Johnson, Barb (Bob) Michmerheizen; and by many nieces & nephews.
According to Dale’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Reeman Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Les VanDyke and Pastor Nate Kooistra officiating. The service will be livestreamed on the Reeman Christian Reformed Church Special Life Moments Youtube Page. Interment will be in Reeman Cemetery. There will also be a time of visiting with the family at the church from 6-8 PM on Monday, August 3, 2026 and from 10-11 AM on Tuesday.
