Eva Ruth (Luttrell) Zeldenrust

Eva Ruth Zeldenrust, age 86 of Holton, went to be with her Lord in the early afternoon of March 7, 2023, after battling dementia, complications of diabetes, and most recently double pneumonia.  She was surrounded by her best friend and sister-in-law Ruth Beebe, and daughter Susan.  She was born on October 3, 1936 in Dowagiac, Michigan to Archie & Ruth (Myers) Luttrell.

Eva was a member of the Sitka Ladies Aid, and Birthday Club.  She was an active member of the Holton United Methodist Church, and had previously been a member of the Sitka United Methodist Church.  She made DeColores en Cristo #31 and Rectoress of #125.  She enjoyed meeting new people and cherished her friends.  She truly cared about people.

On July 21, 1956 she married Harold Zeldenrust.  They enjoyed 47 years of marriage until his death on February 7, 2004.  Eva was a city girl and now a farmer’s wife.  She enjoyed gardening, helping with church fundraising, yard sales, and time with friends.  She was an excellent cook and baker, learning from her mother.  She loved cooking Sunday dinners for her family, even after they were married, to spend time with them.  She was beyond excited when she had grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Eva will be lovingly remembered by her children:  Susan (Dave) Devowe of Twin Lake, MI., Karen (Tony) Kryfka of Amelia Court House, VA., Barbara Poole of Ft. Gratiot, MI., Tim (Julie) Zeldenrust of Holton, MI.; grandchildren:  Scott (Stacy) Devowe, Brad Devowe, Jonathan (Jay Jamison) Kryfka, Melissa (Matt) York, Brianna (Craig) Steadman, Ryan Poole, and Sara Houskamp; great-grandchildren:  Shelby & Evalyn Devowe, Ryker York, Bennett, Andilyn, & Collins Steadman, and Wesley & Lilah Houskamp; and sister-in-law, Ruth Beebe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Archie Luttrell; half-sisters, Ramona Melton & Lillian Burcham; and step-sister, Juanita Felicetta.

Cremation has taken place, and there will be a time of visiting with the family at Holton United Methodist Church from 10:00-11:00 AM on Saturday, March 25, 2023, followed by a Memorial Service beginning at 11:00 AM with Pastor Matthew Stoll officiating.  A luncheon and time to further visit with the family will immediately follow the service at church.  Suggested Memorial:  Holton United Methodist Church Piano Fund.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
