Evelyn (Pelky) Hutchins

Evelyn Hutchins, age 94 of Hesperia, passed away on Thursday morning, December 17, 2020 at her home.  She was born on September 28, 1926 in Empire, Michigan to Lugay and Ellen (Drow) Pelky.  She graduated from Honor High School in 1943. Evelyn enjoyed growing up in a large family, and she enjoyed having one of her own.  Pets were a part of her life and she always had a dog or two.  On November 20, 1948 she married Harold E. (Gene) Hutchins, and he preceded her in death on January 25, 1993.  Evelyn retired after 35 years of employment from the Muskegon and Fremont offices of the Michigan Employment Security Commission.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, Lugay and Ellen Pelky; 6 brothers:  Lawrence, Thomas, William, Harold, Philip, and Raymond Pelky; and 3 sisters:  Esther Bernard, Julia Worden, and Sister Theresa Pelky, RSM.  Evelyn is survived by her sister, Lillian Pelky; and her beloved children:  Daniel (Marilyn) Lipka, Dr. James (Nadine Snead) Lipka, Kathleen (Michael) Christenson, Nancy (Dennis) Bengtsson, Denise Nielsen, Scott (Christine) Lipka, and Dr. Ingrid Hutchins, DVM; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Hesperia with Fr. Pete Schafer as Celebrant.  A recording of the service will be available to watch on the funeral home website after Saturday.  Interment will be at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery in Hesperia.  Suggested Memorials:  Christ the King Catholic Church, or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
