Gale "John" Campbell of Tequesta, Florida, and Fremont, Michigan, born July 30, 1945 in Fremont, Michigan, to the late Glenn Dale and Jenavene Campbell (Trygstad), died on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. John grew up in Fremont, MI, earning a letter in swimming at Fremont High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1965 to 1969 at three Air Force Bases in Texas during the Vietnam Era, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. He married Judith Kay Klein on August 20, 1966. He graduated from the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1969, earning his Airframe and Power Plant licenses and then worked for National Airlines in Miami, Florida. John and Judith had three sons, Scott David (deceased) in 1973 of Tequesta, Fl, Kevin John (Soraya) in 1978 of Durham, NC, and Jarrett Glenn William (Samantha) in 1981 of Newnan, GA. They are also proud grandparents to Jayden, Nadia, Leila, and Aubrey. John worked for Pratt and Whitney Engines under United Technologies from 1970 to 2007 being a jet mechanic and then supervisor of construction. He had been on their bowling team for 37 years earning a best score of 299. He was an avid boater and fisherman, very sports-minded with the sons in soccer, basketball, baseball, tennis, and Scouts. He was the brother of Kay (Tony) Johnson of Fremont, MI, David (deceased) (Kris) Campbell of Holton, MI, Glenn Cook Campbell (deceased) of Sarasota FL and Fremont MI, and Bobbi Lynn Ruilova of University Park, Florida. Step-mothers Marjorie Cook Campbell (deceased) of Naples FL, Marianna V. Campbell (deceased) of Hobe Sound FL, and step-father Nelson Edward Trygstad (deceased) of Holton MI. Step-siblings, Guy Trygstad (deceased); Gary Trygstad (Debbie), Rick Trygstad (Kris), Trudy Ellsworth, Cindy Cochran (Lloyd), Patty Skilling (Bud deceased), Julie Piotrowski, Holton, MI & Brother-in-law, Jim Klein (Sandra) of Villa Park, IL. Many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
John's Memorial Service will be on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 11 am at the First Reformed Church, 348 E. Main Street, Fremont, MI 49412, with Military Honors at the conclusion of the service. Reception immediately following in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to First Reformed Church. The family also sincerely thanks the Veteran's Administration Hospice of West Palm Beach, FL, for their care of John during the last week of his life.
