At his cherished home, surrounded by his loving family, Gary L. Campbell passed into the arms of Jesus on May 28, 2026.
Gary was born on June 21, 1954 in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. He had fond childhood memories of his mother’s baking, growing up with his brothers and cousins, and spending summers at his Uncle’s farm. He also made life-long friends and great memories as a teen with the First Wesleyan Church Youth Group in Muskegon. Gary proudly served in the United States Army stationed in Germany during the Cold War. He later worked at Gerber Products until retirement.
In 1984, Gary married the “love of his life,” Tammie. They were blessed with three wonderful sons. Gary was a devoted husband and father who deeply loved and faithfully served his family. He treasured every moment spent raising his boys. Family vacations were among his warmest memories as well as day trips to the beach on Lake Michigan. After they grew up, his heart was most full whenever the kids came home.
Throughout his life, Gary actively shared his love of Christ through his affection and love towards family and friends. He demonstrated his love and support through homemade goodies like garden-fresh salsa and chocolate chip cookies. In retirement, he was always ready to cart his nieces as needed, usually with a trip to the drive-through on the way to their destination.
Gary also demonstrated Christ’s love through his commitment to his church family. He shared God’s love by serving in many roles. Over the past two decades he served as a board member of Dayton Center Wesleyan Church. He especially had a heart for the Thanksgiving dinner ministry, making meals for those in need.
Gary enjoyed gardening, canning, biking, traveling with Tammie to the Upper Peninsula searching for waterfalls, sharing beach sunsets, enjoying long walks and impromptu road trips.
Gary bravely fought pancreatic cancer for 18 months. Throughout his painful battle, his primary focus was sharing his love and ensuring that his family’s needs were met.
Gary is survived by his wife, Tammie Hansen-Campbell; their children, Joshua Campbell, Joel Campbell, and Josiah (Lizzie) Campbell; his brother, Jim (Joyce) Campbell; many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Campbell and Bernice Gothup; and his brothers, Kenneth Campbell and Ron Campbell.
It was Gary’s wish that no public service be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to his family to assist with medical expenses. Donations may be given directly to the family, online at: everloved.com/life-of/gary-lynn-campbell, or via Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home.
