George Duane Hinton

George Duane Hinton, age 80 of Muskegon, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at his home in Bridgeton Township.  He was born on January 18, 1944 in Muskegon, Michigan to Richard Duane & Alta Mae (Cook) Hinton.  George was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era, and he was a member of the White Lake VFW Post #3256.  He started doing auto body work at the age of 16, and he worked for others for many years until he started his own business, Hinton’s Body Shop in Muskegon, in 1982.  After his retirement, George enjoyed taking care of his churches campground, Camp Courage.  He was a member of West Michigan Worship Center for many years, where he played the guitar in the church band.  George also liked to restore cars.  On May 21, 1968 he married Betty Ann Martinez and she survives him along with 5 children:  Angela Houseman, Antonio (Tammy) Hinton, Aaron (Kristen) Hinton, Richard Hinton, Dan (Rose) VenHuizen; 14 grandchildren & 6 great-grandchildren; sisters & brother:  Lorraine (Dale) Johnson, Linda Walker, Marcia Reyes, Keith (Don) Hinton, Roxanne (Ed) Parker; and by many beloved brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, & cousins.  George was preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Alta Mae Hinton; brother, Lyle Hinton; and sister, Dixie Davis.  A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Bridgeton Township Cemetery with Pastor Robert Johnson officiating.  A celebration of George’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at West Michigan Worship Center with Pastor Robert Johnson officiating.  A luncheon and time to visit with the family will immediately follow the service at church.  In addition to flowers, donations for funeral cost and expenses will be greatly appreciated.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
