Gerald Edward Church

Gerald Edward Church, age 90 of Fremont, passed away on Sunday evening, August 4, 2024.  He was born on April 18, 1934 in Holton, Michigan to Verlo Roy and Lenora Hazel (Kempf) Church.  On September 13, 1954 he married Joann Elaine Smith and she preceded him in death on July 6, 2016.  Gerald served in the US Army National Guard during the Korean War, and he had been employed by Sealed Power in Muskegon for over 30 years until his retirement.  He had also been an advisor for his son Jeff’s business, Sandblast Unlimited.  Gerald was independent, and he loved to tinker with things and be outdoors until the day that he died.  He also loved classic cars. 

Gerald is survived by 4 children:  Sheryl (Barry) Gill of Fremont, Brad (Stacey) Church of Fremont, Jack (Su) Church of Fremont, and Jeff (Jodi) Church of Fremont; grandchildren:  RaChel (Jay) Gray, Keith (Ashley George) Gill, Dougan (Audrey King) Church, Troyer (Kristin Beeler) Church, Kristy (Marty) Stieber, and Sarah (Joe) Wilkinson; great-grandchildren:  Katelyn & Easton Wilkinson, Marcus Stieber, & Loretta Mae Church; 1 brother, Bernie (Joyce) Church; and by several nieces & nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Joann; and by his brothers, Verlo “Bud” Church & Robert Church. 

The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Fremont Christian Church with Rev. Steven Jumper officiating.  Interment will be in Clark Cemetery.  Visitation will also be at the church from 10-11 AM on Wednesday.  Suggested Memorials:  Fremont Packer Backers, or the Holton American Legion Post 397.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
