Henry Jay Hartger

Henry Jay Hartger, age 64 of Fremont, was suddenly called Home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 10, 2025.  He was born on June 30, 1960 in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.  Henry was a lifetime entrepreneur and truck driver.  He was raised at First Reformed Church of Fremont, and he had attended First Baptist Church of Fremont.  Henry enjoyed gardening and being outdoors.  He was devoted to family and friends, and his greatest joy in life was spending time and laughter with them.  On August 21, 1980 he married Connie Ekkel and she survives him along with 5 children:  Matt (Teda) Hartger, Derek (Tabitha) Hartger, Brian (Brielle) Hartger Stephanie Hartger (Matthew Greiner), Jake (Nichole) Hartger all of Fremont; 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way; and by his sister, Cindy Hartger of Fremont.  He is also survived by his sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law:  Char Dunn, Sandy Gronso, Barb (James) Gearhart, Bob (Wendy) Ekkel, Peggy Phillips; and by many nieces & nephews.  Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Gerrit Henry and Nellie M. (Homan) Hartger; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Jake and Irene Ekkel; and by his brother-in-law, Larry Ekkel.  The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 19, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Fremont.  A live stream will be available at the First Baptist of Fremont, Michigan YouTube channel.  Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.  Visitation will also be at the church from 10-11 AM on Monday.  Suggested Memorial: First Baptist Church of Fremont.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
