Mr. Herb VanWylen, age 90 of Grant, went to be with his Lord & Savior on Friday afternoon, November 13, 2020. He was born on June 9, 1930 in Grant, Michigan to Joe & Bertha (DeVries) VanWylen. Herb was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a farmer until he went to work for Keeler Brass in Grand Rapids, retiring in 1995, and then he worked for Miedema Produce in Goodyear, Arizona during the winter months for 15 years. Herb was a member of Grant Christian Reformed Church, and the Buckley Old Engine Club. On June 20, 1952 he married Donna R. Kloet and she preceded him in death on January 12, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Govert & Neil VanWylen; by his sister Katie VanWylen; by his sister-in-law, Helen VanWylen; and by his brother-in-law, Albert Lubbers. Herb is survived by 5 children: Carl (Mary) VanWylen of Sand Lake, Howard VanWylen of Reed City, Diane VanWylen of Grant, Gloria (Dave) Stark of Cedar Springs, Judy (Phil) Deur of Fremont; 6 grandchildren: Jon (Mary) VanWylen, Craig (Monikhav) VanWylen, Ben Deur, Joe Deur, Anna Deur, Jake (Brittney) Deur; 2 great grandchildren, Caleb Deur & Emersyn Deur; 1 sister, Donna (Marv) Folkema of Fremont; brother-in-law, Bernie (Norma) Kloet of Fremont; and sisters-in-law: Tressa Lubbers of North Muskegon, & Geraldine (Marvin) DeYoung of Fremont. A graveside service for the immediate family will be held soon at Hillside Cemetery near Grant, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
