Hollis L. Phillips, age 78 of Fremont and formerly of Newaygo, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday evening, January 23, 2026. He was born on February 18, 1947 in Greenville, Michigan to Leon A. & Vera “Ileah” (Angel) Phillips. Hollis was a US Marine Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He had been employed as an electrician for Delphi-Coopersville for 23 ½ years, where he had also served as a UAW chaplain, until his retirement in 2007. Hollis was currently attending Harvest Fremont, and he was formerly a member of City Church Rockford. On November 2, 1967 he married Marilyn Lois Jones and she preceded him in death on April 16, 2023. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Terry & Scott Phillips. Hollis is survived by 3 children: Ginger (Chad) Callison of Fremont, Aaron (Brenda) Phillips of Grant, Joel (Karrie) Phillips of Fremont; 19 grandchildren & 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Martha (Gary) Walkington of Trufant, Michigan; brother, Michael (Edie) Phillips of Florida; and by many nieces & nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Harvest Fremont with Pastor Dan Cook officiating. Visitation will also be at the church from 1-2 PM on Friday. Suggested Memorial: 92 for 22, which is a Michigan-based nonprofit founded by veterans to raise awareness and support efforts to prevent veteran suicide and care for those who served.
