Irene T. (Devine) Ekkel

Irene T. Ekkel, age 64 of Fremont, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday evening, March 30, 2023.  She was born on June 26, 1958 in Culver City, California to Edward & Marie (Astier) Devine.  Irene had been employed in daycare & housekeeping, and she had been a receptionist at Fremont Ford.  She attended Aetna Calvary Church & Grace Community Church.  Irene loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren, and she enjoyed camping and baking cookies.  On July 11, 1980 she married Ken Ekkel and he survives her along with 2 daughters & 7 grandchildren:  Anna (Brian) Hable & their 4 children Kenny, Kenzie, Austin, & Drew, Angie (Ben) Taylor & their 3 children Natalie, Haley, & Sawyer.  She is also survived by her mother, Marie Devine; sisters & brothers:  Lorrie West, Mike Devine, Denise (Kevin) Stone, Donna (Lloyd) Simonson, Lucille (Marti) Calianno, Ed (Kelly) Devine; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Marvin & Martha Ekkel; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law:  Ron (Nancy) Ekkel, Linda (Niles) White, Lois (Dan) Eckert, Kathy (John) Eckert, Doug (Shelly) Ekkel, Garry (Tammy) Ekkel, Terry (Amy) Ekkel; and by many nieces & nephews.  Irene was preceded in death by her father, Edward Devine; brother, John Devine; and sisters-in-law, Kathy Devine & Sharon Norris.  The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Aetna Calvary Church with Pastor Justin Blackwood officiating.  Visitation will also be at the church from 10-11 AM on Thursday.  Interment will be in Garfield Township Cemetery.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
