James William Deur, age 92 of Fremont, went to be with his Lord & Savior early Saturday morning, January 27, 2024. He was born on March 18, 1931 in Fremont, Michigan to H. Daniel & Bertha (VanGoor) Deur. Jim was a US Marine Veteran of the Korean War. He was a lifelong dairy farmer, and he had been a member of the Fremont Co-Operative Board of Directors. Jim was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church in Fremont where he had served as an elder, deacon, and Sunday School teacher. He enjoyed traveling, reading, and raising St Bernard dogs. On September 3, 1954 he married Evelyn L. Sneller, and she preceded him in death on November 15, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Persenaire; brother, Dr. Gordon Deur; and by his sisters, Eloise Kunnen & Evelyn VanEmst. Jim is survived by 4 children: LaVonne (Jerry) Meekhof of Bryron Center, MI., Philip (Judy) Deur of Fremont, Joanne (Jack) Roh of Wyoming, MI., Stan (Lisa) Deur of Fremont; son-in-law, Rev. Bruce (Peg) Persenaire of California; 14 grandchildren & 26 great-grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Second Christian Reformed Church in Fremont with his son-in-law, Rev. Bruce Persenaire, officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at church. Visitation will also be at the church from 10-11 AM on Thursday. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.
