James Hines Obituary

Mr. James Jay Hines, age 72 of Newaygo, passed away on Thursday afternoon, May 13, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon. He was born on June 17, 1948 in Kent City, Michigan to Jay & Dorothy (Zimmer) Hines. Jim had been employed at Cronk’s Ace Hardware in Newaygo for 30 plus years, and he was a people person. He enjoyed farming with his brother-in-law Ken Comis. Jim also liked bird watching, and seeing all the deer in his backyard. On November 17, 1973 he married Nancy Kay Comis and she preceded him in death on March 12, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Arden Hines. Jim is survived by 3 children: Tamara (Jim) Lothschutz of Muskegon, Kelly (Ed) Hoffman of Twin Lake, and Eric Hines; 1 grandson, Lars Lothschutz; 3 sisters: Janet Brott of Alaska, Carolyn (Phil) Wilson of Lakeview, MI., Linzi (Morris) Teusink of Clarksville, MI.; and by many nieces & nephews.
