James Daniel Stroven, age 78 of Newaygo, passed away suddenly on Tuesday morning, August 30, 2022 at his home. He was born on November 6, 1943 in Fremont, Michigan to George W. & Mary Elizabeth (Harris) Stroven. Jim graduated from Fremont High School in 1962, joined the Army Reserves, and then became a milk hauler for Norm Anderson and Craig Luchies for over 40 years. He was a sports fan of the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, and MSU Spartans. Jim enjoyed traveling with his companion and caregiver of 36 years, Linda Ward, who survives him along with her daughters & their families: Teresa DeMull, Nancy (Ernie Cushman) Hills, Donna (Jim) Zeldenrust, & Juanita Zimmerman. He is also survived by his brothers & sisters: William (Diane) Stroven, Kenneth (Jeannie) Stroven, Mary (Richard) Tubergen, George (Barbara) Stroven, Jr., Richard (Rosalie) Stroven, Marguerite Stroven, & John Stroven; and by many nieces & nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; by his brother & his wife, Jerry & Colleen Stroven; and by 2 nephews, John Schaub & Todd Tubergen. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 2, 2022 at First Reformed Church in Fremont with Pastor Joel Zuidema officiating. Visitation will also be at the church from 10-11 AM on Friday. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Croton Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to either the Newaygo County Compassion Home, or to the Newaygo County Animal Shelter.
