James "Jim" Bennett Obituary

James “Jim” Ronald Bennett, age 92 of Fremont, fulfilled God’s promise that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord on Wednesday morning, February 26, 2025.  He was born on May 14, 1932 in Fremont, Michigan to J.F. and Lorna (Ruggles) Bennett.  Jim accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior very early in his adult life, and he spent the rest of his life devoted to Him. He was a longtime former member and servant at Hesperia Baptist Church, and he later attended Country Bible Church in Fremont.  Jim loved building things and woodworking, which included making large crosses and pulpits for churches.  He also had a love of hobby farming, canoeing, kayaking, and making trips to Canada.  Jim was retired from Lift-Tech Industries in Muskegon.

On September 28, 1953 he married the love of his life, Janis “Jan” Eileen Tindall, and she preceded him in death on August 20, 2022.  Jim was also preceded in death by his sisters and their spouses:  Jean and Levirn Rought, Eda and Bill Gordon, Shirley and Milt Gordon.  He is survived by 3 children:  Steve and Janis (Dykman) Bennett, Julie and Curtis Lynn, Lisa and Phil Annis; 7 grandchildren:  Christy, Jacqueline , Suzanne, Andy, Erica, Jacob, and Curtis; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law:  Larry and Judy Tindall, Garnet Angel, Ken Tindall; and by some well loved nieces & nephews. 

A Private Funeral Service for family and close friends will be held at Ravenna Baptist Church.  Immediately following the service there will be a luncheon and time to visit at the church before interment will be made at Jewell Cemetery near Fremont. 

Suggested Memorial:  Grace Hispanic Baptist Church in Grant.
