Janice Stone Obituary

Janice L. Stone, age 70, passed away on March 1, 2021 in Muskegon. She was born on June 13, 1950 to Carl and Delores (Yost) Stone in Grand Haven. She grew up in Fruitport and graduated from Fruitport High School, Class of ’68. She attended Blodgett School of Nursing in Grand Rapids earning a RN certification, and took her first nursing job at Pine Rest in Grand Rapids. Shortly thereafter, she earned a BS in Psychology from Aquinas and continued her education at the University of Michigan obtaining a Master of Nursing degree. After working in the Nursing and psychology field for a period, she moved into hospital administration. Janice retired in November of 2016, as COO at Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial in Fremont, MI. Janice said, “she loved her career until the day she retired.” Janice enjoyed exploring Michigan’s nature sights with friends and family. Some of her other favorites were hiking, kayaking, photography, music and celebrating life with her many friends. Janice was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Muskegon.

SURVIVORS include two brothers, David (Linda K.) Stone and Richard (Linda J.) Stone; Jan was affectionately known as AJ to her nieces and nephews who are: Amanda (Tommy) Stone-Goodenow, Nathan (Amy) Stone, Brian (Amy) Stone, Dan (Valerie) Stone, Benjamin (Michelle) Stone and Michael (Megan) Stone. Janice was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Leslie (Lydia) Yost and Benjamin (Henrietta) Stone. A public visitation being held in Fremont from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2021 at Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc., 637 E. Main St., Fremont, MI 49412. Due to current restrictions, a limit of 25 people at a time will take place during visitation. A PRIVATE FAMILY MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held in Muskegon. The family is planning to hold a public memorial service after pandemic restrictions are lifted. Burial will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery in Fruitport.
