Jean (Betras) Coburn

Mrs. Jean Coburn, age 84 of Newaygo, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022 at home.  She was born on August 19, 1937 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Tassos & Katena (Theohares) Betras.  Jean had worked at the Porter House Room in Grand Rapids for 20 years, and at Cronk’s Restaurant in Newaygo for 12 years.  She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fremont, and the Newaygo VFW Post 4249 Auxiliary.  On June 20, 1958 she married Ronald Coburn and he preceded her in death on August 21, 2002.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Timothy Alexander; daughter, Penelope Constance; son-in-law, Steve Hingston; brothers:  Gus, George, & James Betras; and by her sisters:  Mary Salik, Mickey Cassidy, Angie Cole, & Christine Fischer.  Jean is survived by 5 daughters:  Karen Hingston, Patti (Jim) Schultz, Kristy Coburn, Kim (George) Suchy, Pam (Al) Barton;   son-in-law, John DeGier; 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, & 2 great-great grandsons; sister-in-law, Edie Betras; and by many nieces & nephews.  Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at the Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home.  The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fremont with Rev. Dr. Frank Graves officiating.  Interment will be in Croton Township Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the Newaygo VFW Post 4249 from 1-4 PM.  Suggested Memorials:  The Newaygo VFW 4249 Auxiliary, or Community Pace of Newaygo, Michigan.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
