Jean Bode (Deters) Sneller

Jean Bode Sneller, age 92, of Lookout Mountain, GA, formerly from Fremont, MI, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026. Jean was born to the late Henry and Jennie Deters on July 16, 1933. She was married to Stanley Bode from 1952 to 1980. She was married to Alden Sneller from 1989 to 2018.

Jean worked as a physical therapist at the Newaygo County Medical Center from 1965 to 1989. She was a great woman of faith and had a generous spirit. She loved baking bread for neighbors, knitting baby booties for grandchildren, volunteering  at Camp Geneva, and even as recently as 3 weeks ago, crocheting hats for the homeless.

Jean is survived by her 4 children, James (Peggy) Bode of Lookout Mountain, GA; Judy (Kenneth) Poll of Tucson, AZ; Jon (Julee) Bode of The Sea Ranch, CA; Jan (Tom) Smiley of Anacortes, WA, 7 step-children: Duane (Joyce) Sneller of Wayland; Phil (Faye) Sneller of Sheboygan, WI, Vera Hansen of Appleton, WI; Kay (Al) Griffin of Grand Rapids; Les (Holly) Sneller of Zeeland; Karen Winchel of White Cloud; Eileen (Rick) Alderink of Fremont; 24 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren, sister-in-law Lois Dusseljee of Holland, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by loving husbands Stanley Bode (1980) and Alden Sneller (2018), and granddaughter, Rachel Tucker (2019); brothers Gerald (Dorothy) Deters, Jay (Eleanor) Deters, sister Gladys (Lyle) Miller, in-laws Robert (Lenore) Bode, Barbara Bode, Charles (Alice) Bode, Betty Bayless, and Mariam (Bill) Sneller.

Memorial contributions: Second CRC in Fremont. 

Visitation (11am-12pm) and Memorial Service (12pm) at Second CRC in Fremont on Friday, February 27, 2026 with Rev. David Deters (nephew) and Rev. Thad Davis(grandson-in-law) officiating.
