Jeffery "Jay" Scott DeCheney, Jr.

Jeffery "Jay" Scott DeCheney, Jr., age 41 of Hesperia, passed away unexpectedly at home on August 12, 2023.  He was born on December 21, 1981 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Jeffery Scott & Valerie Ann (Dutton) DeCheney, Sr.  Jay had been employed by Peterson Farms in Shelby, Michigan, and he liked to do things for other people and build them up.  He is survived by his father, Jeff (Kelli) DeCheney, Sr.; mother & pops, Valerie (Michael) Pence; sister, Melissa (Tom) Pence; 1 niece, Summer (Zacch) Snow; 6 nephews:  Shawn (Grace) Pence, Brayden (Meghan) Pence, Isaiah, Hunter, Connor, & Carson Pence; and by 8 great-nieces & nephews; step-brother, Dalton Bowman; uncles:  Steve (Amanda) DeCheney, Bob (Kim) DeCheney, David (girlfriend Lisa) Dutton; and aunt, Becky (Tim) Berson.  Jay was preceded in death by his brother, Nathan Scott DeCheney; uncle, Scott Lanesky; and by his grandparents.  The family will have a private ceremony to lay Jay to rest in Bridgeton Township Cemetery on Saturday morning, August 26, 2023.  Everyone is then invited to join the family for a luncheon & time to visit from 12-2 PM on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Fremont Lake Park.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
