Jonathan "Jon" Roger Wingelaar

Jonathan “Jon” Roger Wingelaar, age 38 of Fremont, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 after a long battle with depression.  He was born on October 29, 1985 in Valparaiso, Indiana to Roger John and Kiran Sarah (Wilkinson) Wingelaar. Jon had an unmatched technical know-how when it came to anything from computers to carpentry and a deep curiosity about the way things worked. He had an amazing ability to absorb and process information and reconfigure it into a way that made it seem simple. Passionate about online gaming and the stock market, his interest and talents were wide. In his family, he was the counselor, the confidant, the shoulder to cry on and his Dad’s right hand man when it came to running Hidden Acres.

Jonathan had a sharp emotional intelligence that made him both a skilled debater and a deeply empathetic listener. There was truly no one like him: an independent thinker, an old soul, a kind and intuitive person. His family will forever feel his absence.   

Jon is survived by his parents, Roger and Kiran Wingelaar of Fremont, MI; his brother, his wife and her daughter: Pieter (Heather) Wingelaar & Izabella of Hazel Park, MI; his sister, her husband and their children:  Soma (Kellan Cummings) Wingelaar, Phiroze and Vashti of Wappingers Falls, NY; grandmother, Iris Wilkinson of Nagpur, India; aunts and uncles: Ruth Wingelaar of Fremont, Mary Lou Alexander of Fremont, James (Deidre) Wingelaar of Wyoming, MI, Charles (Lori) Wingelaar of Ludington, MI, Cheryl (Ezra) Hodgson of Berryville, Arkansas, Nita Patel and her daughter Naheed Patel of Nagpur, India, Dr Raju (Dr Anne) Wilkinson and their children Akshai and Anisha of Nagpur, India; many cousins; and by his second cousin, Tanya Schenk. Jon was preceded in death by his grandparents: John and Myna Wingelaar, and Dr T.S. Wilkinson. Cremation has taken place, and a Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Hidden Acres Cottages, 6811 Wilcox Avenue, Fremont, MI 49412, with a reception to follow.
