Joseph P. Witte

Joseph Witte, 82 of Fremont, joined his Heavenly family on December 15, 2022.  He was born on May 4, 1940 in Port Huron, Michigan to Ernest & Hazel Witte.  Shortly after returning home from the Army he met and later married Jane Miller on March 6, 1964.  Joe was a great husband, father, grandfather, & great-grandfather.  He adored all of the kids when they came to visit.  He made so many loving memories for his family.  He was loved by so many.  He started working for the Fremont Public Schools as a mechanic & bus driver with his dear friend Chet Scott.  After a few years he moved over to Deur Chevrolet to continue with his mechanical skills.  When he was offered a job at Gerber’s as a forklift driver, he stayed there until his retirement in 1999. He and Jane enjoyed traveling during his retirement days.  Many Alaskan trips, Oregon & North Carolina trips visiting our kids in the Coast Guard.  When Parkinson’s & Lewy Body Dementia hit, our days to travel came to an end.  Joe and Jane have two daughters and sons-in-law:  Robyn (Dave) Rice, Rhonda (Ken) Houpt; Eleven grandchildren:  Codie Rice, Levi & Chris Houpt, Tyler & Abby Houpt, Hannah & Victor Kinsey, Ruth & Kyle Nagy, Anna & Naomi Houpt; 6 great-grandchildren:  Nathan, Jason, Heidi, Mav, & Helena Houpt, and Blake Nagy.  Joe is also survived by his brothers:  Jim (Mary) Witte, Jerry (Ilene) Witte; and sister Judy (Nels) Veltman.  He was preceded in death by his brother & his wife, Jack & Lois Witte; and by his sister, Carol Jean Witte.  God has truly blessed our lives.  Joe will be sadly missed by many.  A huge thank you to Fremont Fountain View & Grant Fountain View for the loving compassionate care Joe received while living there.  For a more lasting memorial, donations can be made to Fremont Fountain View in Joe’s memory.  At the request of the family, there will be no services and cremation has taken place.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
