Joy Ann (Salacina) Barton

Joy Ann Barton, age 88 and a lifelong resident of Newaygo, went Home to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday morning, July 9, 2026. 
She was born on March 29, 1938 in Fremont, Michigan to Carl and Anna (Sokolowski) Salacina.

Joy graduated from Newaygo High School in 1956, where she was the valedictorian.  She had been employed by Gerber Products Company for many years until her retirement in 2003, and she was a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Grant for many years.

On December 20, 1956 she married Bruce Barton in San Francisco, California where Bruce was stationed in the US Navy, and he preceded her in death on October 13, 2003.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers:  Abe, Chuck, Henry, Carl, and Lloyd Salacina; sisters:  Rosie Hansel, Ruby Kuhns, and Betty Neibarger; and by her grandson-in-law, Derek Wilson.  Joy is survived by 3 children:  Arthur (Kristi) Barton, Alan (Pam) Barton, and Shelley (Ron) Wawsczyk; 5 grandchildren:  Anna Wilson, Aaron (Jeana) Barton, Andrea (Derek) Strong, Nicole (Evan) Bouwkamp, Nathaniel (Taylor Hills) Barton; 9 great-grandchildren; and by a number of nieces and nephews.

According to her wishes cremation has taken place, and there will be a time of visiting with the family at Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home from 10-11 AM on Monday, July 13, 2026.  A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 AM with her son, Pastor Arthur Barton, officiating.  A luncheon will immediately follow the service at Harvest Baptist Church in Grant.  Interment will be in Ashland Township Cemetery.  Memorial Contributions can be made out to Sidney and Aida White        (Missionaries in Israel) and mailed to 2846 W. 112th Street, Grant, Michigan  49327.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
