Judy Kay Bell (Luchies), age 72, of Fremont, entered the gates of Heaven on October 19, 2023, following a short and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 3, 1951, to Alvin and Norma Luchies, who preceded her in death. Judy graduated from Fremont High School in 1969 before entering the workforce first as a file clerk at Gerber Products and then as head cook at the Gerber Plant before retiring in 2016.
Judy’s passion was helping others, which often was shown through her amazing baking and cooking skills. She also enjoyed camping, taking in sunsets and grocery shopping. The memories made with her family always took top billing, though. Judy was a consistent fixture at any and all events involving her children and grandchildren over the past few decades, spanning cheerleading competitions, tennis matches, soccer games, dirt bike races, hockey games and so much more.
She is survived by her loving husband Ed of 44 years, along with her two children, Jacqueline (Brian) Miller of Fremont (Brody, Mackenzie and Logan) and Scott (Jacqueline) Bell (Joshua and Chase) of Frisco, Texas. Also surviving her are her siblings: Sharon (Milan) Schipper, Vic Luchies, Chris (Dave) Breuker, Duane (Nancy) Luchies, Jan (Keith) Breuker, Sue (Bill) Hoekstra, Lori Chrystler, Tami Gillette and Julie (Tim) Zeldenrust.
A service will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023 at 11 am at First Christian Reformed Church, 721 Hillcrest Drive in Fremont, with Pastor Drew Sweetman officiating. Visitation will take place before the service begins at 10 am.
