Karen Lynn (Malone) Wilson

Karen Lynn (Malone) Wilson, age 81, passed away on Thursday July 24th.  She succumbed to complications from Parkinson Disease.  Karen was born on October 1, 1943, in Boston, MA to the late William Thomas and Evelyn May (Colburn) Malone.

As a child, Karen lived in Kittery Point Maine, New London, Connecticut and Mount Vernon, Ohio. She attended the Columbus Business School after graduation from Mount Vernon High School and worked for many years as a bookkeeper in different locations as she followed her husband’s military deployments. Karen was a proud military wife.  She married Michael Augustus Wilson in 1971, who preceded her in death. They were happily married for 53 years. Michael served his country in the US Airforce and US Navy. Karen and Mike lived in Memphis, TN, Orlando and Jacksonville, FLA, San Diego, CA, finally settling in Virginia Beach, VA in 1986 when Mike retired from the military.  

Karen was a fun, outgoing person with a cheerful, friendly personality. She loved her home in Virginia Beach and enjoyed spending time gardening and decorating. Karen and Mike liked to bowl and were on many bowling leagues. They loved sports, especially watching football. She was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Philadelphia Eagles fan. They also loved dogs. Her beloved dog Molly will have a forever home with her sister.

Karen is survived by her sister, Robin Sue (Glenn) Dickmann, sister-in-law Patricia Wilson, niece Kathryn Elise Dickmann, nephew Thomas Alan (Jaime) Dickmann and great nieces Evelynn Bailey and Rylee Wynn Dickmann. She was preceded in death by her brother, William Thomas Malone.

Karen and Mike’s ashes will be buried together at sea, by the US Navy, according to their wishes.
