Mr. Kenneth D. Derks, age 81 of Fremont, passed away on Monday afternoon, February 17, 2020 at the Newaygo County Compassion Home in White Cloud. He was born on May 4, 1938 in Fremont, Michigan to George & Hattie (Klomp) Derks. Ken was a US Army Veteran, and he had worked at Speas Apple Juice in Fremont for 35 years until his retirement in 1992. He had also been a chauffeur for the Amish, and he enjoyed farming & cutting wood. Ken was preceded in death by his brothers: Milan Derks, Melvin Derks, Vern Derks, Melbourne “Pete” Derks, Irwin “Curly” Derks, & Weldon Derks; and by his sister, Judy Karp. He is survived by 2 daughters: Pam (Tim) Zuchowski of Fremont, Kris (Lenny) Fulkerson of Martinsville, Indiana; 3 grandchildren: Karlie & Kenzie Zuchowski, Katie Fulkerson; sisters & brothers: Betty Hallmeyer, Gary (Fran) Derks, Marlene (Al) Karnemaat, Bob (Mary) Derks; brother-in-law, Wilbur Karp; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Derks & Sandy Derks; and by a special nephew, Dave Derks, who he enjoyed fishing with on Dutch Lake.
