Kenneth John Schuiteman

Kenneth John Schuiteman, 88, of Fremont passed from this life to eternal life on Friday, January 3, 2025.

Kenneth was born on December 21, 1936, in Fremont Michigan.   He was the second son born to John & Helene Schuiteman.   Ken was a graduate of Fremont High School and after graduating he began a career in sales from Reber’s Menswear to Moore TV and culminating at Deur Speet Motors. 

Ken eventually became a partner at Deur Speet joining his great lifelong friend, Bruce Poel.   Ken retired from full time employment at Deur Speet in 2002, although he never fully stopped working until 2022.   During his career Ken was active in the Fremont community.  He was a member of the Lion’s Club, a Cadet counselor, a long-time board member for Fremont Public Schools and served on various other boards including Fremont Insurance.   He was a lifelong member of Trinity Christian Reformed Church.

Ken married Myra Joyce Koeman in 1957 and they were married for 65 years.   Ken and Myra had three sons, Tom, Todd and Mark Schuiteman.   Ken especially enjoyed time with family at his cottage on Pickeral Lake where many wonderful memories were made with his children and grandchildren.  

Ken will be remembered for his generosity, his love of family, his enduring faith and his commitment to the Fremont community.   He was preceded in death by his wife Myra, his parents, his brother Jim and his granddaughter Paige.  He is survived by his three sons, Tom (Stacy), Todd (Cheryl) and Mark (Jennifer) as well as 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.   Ken would want people to remember him as being a man blessed by God and blessed by his beloved wife Myra.   He was a wonderful dad, friend and grandparent and each of his grandchildren have special memories of “Papa Ken”. 

Memorial contributions may be given to the Fremont Christian School.   You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com  There will be a celebration of life visitation/service at 1st Christian Reformed Church in Fremont with visitation from 11- noon and the service at noon on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.  Rev. Christopher Bradshaw will preside over the service and arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home Inc. of Fremont.
