Mr. Larry Jay Brinkman, age 84 of Fremont, went to be with his Lord & Savior early Monday morning, March 2, 2020. He was born in 1935 in Fremont, Michigan to Arnold & Ida (Jordan) Brinkman. Larry had served in the Michigan National Guard, and he was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Fremont where he had served as an Elder & Deacon. He was a co-founder of Reeman Farm Equipment, and he had been an owner of VanDyke Engine Rebuilding. Larry had served on the Fremont Fire Department for 12 years, and he had also been an auctioneer. He married Ruth Kraker in 1961, and she survives him along with 2 sons: Ron Brinkman of Fremont, Jack (Renee) Brinkman of Fremont; daughter-in-law, Deborah Brinkman of Fremont; 2 grandsons, Jacob Andrew Brinkman & Joshua Steven Brinkman; 1 brother-in-law, Paul Hoeksema of Holland, MI.; and 1 sister-in-law, Fran Brinkman of Florida. Larry was preceded in death by 2 sons, Steven Brinkman on April 1, 1986 & Andrew Brinkman on April 7, 2010; by 2 brothers, Merlin Brinkman & Leroy Brinkman; and by 1 sister, Fannie Hoeksema. The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at First Christian Reformed Church in Fremont with Rev. Drew Sweetman officiating. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont. Visitation will also be at the church from 11-1 PM on Thursday.
