Lee Joe Hoppa

Lee Joe Hoppa, age 84 of Fremont, passed away on Friday morning, February 3, 2023 at his home.  He was born on January 31, 1939 in Fremont, Michigan to Fred Joseph and Beatrice Mary (Wells) Hoppa.  Lee had been employed by Gerber Products Company, the City of Fremont, and Smalligan Builders.  He enjoyed woodworking, farming, and deer hunting.  On October 8, 1960 he married Lorna Rose VandenBerg and she preceded him in death on July 5, 2022.  He was also preceded in death by his daughter Tammy Lee Hughes on August 16, 2022, by his parents, and by his brother Hal Hoppa.  Lee is survived by 2 sons:  Gary (Beth) Hoppa, and Wes Hoppa; 7 grandchildren:  Tylyn (Pete) Anderson, David (Katie Gerhardt) Hughes, Bailey Hoppa, Makenna Hoppa, Ashlyn Hoppa, Taryn Hoppa, & Graison Hoppa; 3 great-grandchildren, Easton, Camden, & Ryker Anderson.  He is also survived by his brother, Rex (Karen) Hoppa; sister, Kay (Ronald) Reiffer; sister-in-law, Christie Hoppa; brother-in-law, Jim VandenBerg; and by several nieces & nephews.  According to Lee’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a time to celebrate his life along with refreshments from 12-3 PM on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at the Sherman Township Hall.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to Fremont FFA.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
