Leo Verkerk

Leo Verkerk, age 70 of Muskegon, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, August 29, 2023.  He was born on February 17, 1953 in the Netherlands to Hermanus & Gerritje (Verduyn) Verkerk.  Leo had been a dairy farmer in Grant, and then owned the Dutch Bakery in Fremont and later in Muskegon.  He enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking.  On November 26, 1993 he married the former Katherine "Kathy" Kaufman and she survives him.  Leo was the youngest of 9 children, 7 brothers & 1 sister, some of whom have preceded him in death.  He had a special relationship with his brother Karl Verkerk and his family, who reside in the Netherlands.  A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at American Decency Association with Pastor Steve Huston officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to the family to help with expenses.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
