Lester Crosslin, Jr. Obituary

Lester W. Crosslin, Jr. of Fremont, formerly of Decherd, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on September 2nd, 2022 at the Newaygo County Compassion Home in Fremont.  Lester was 94 years old and had been suffering from multiple medical issues at the time of his passing.  Lester was a born-again Christian and attended Faith Baptist Church until medical issues prevented him from weekly attendance.  He was born on February 20th, 1928 to Lester W. Crosslin, Sr. and Janetta Crosslin in Pekin, Illinois.  He married Ruby Steel on their high school graduation day, May 4th, 1948 in Rossville, Georgia.  In 1950 the couple moved to East Lansing, Michigan where Lester began working for Suites News, distributing magazines and establishing new accounts.  Ruby worked for Olan Mills Studios as a manager of telephone sales for more than twenty years.  Their only child, Toni Jean, was born on July 17th, 1952 in Lansing.  The family would end up establishing residence in Holt where Lester would continue his small business, Lester’s Service Company, repairing lawn mowers as well as an assortment of power equipment.  Lester would eventually relocate to Fremont in 2014 to be closer to his family.  He loved Fremont and established many friends along the way.  Lester was always quick witted and loved to tell jokes, not all of them however were proved humorous, except to him.  He loved people and was always available to lend a helping hand.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his loving wife Ruby.  Surviving Lester are his daughter, Toni (Doug) Bennett; two grandchildren, Paul (Stephanie) Densmore and Jean Marie (David) Schaberg; and seven great-grandchildren.  Special thanks to his Pastor Bryan Tanis for his time and service to Lester.  Also thanks go to Mark Schreiber, a special friend who spent numerous hours with Lester.  Also deserving praise is Lisa Hooker from Care Plus who took wonderful care of Lester in the last few months of his life.  All the nurses and aides from Spectrum Hospice were professional, loving, and caring to Lester and his family.  A special thanks goes out to the Newaygo County Compassion Home for their kindness and dedication to the dying, thank you Diane for all you do.  Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Faith Baptist Church with Pastor Bryan Tanis officiating.  In lieu of flowers, please make your memorial dedications to the Newaygo County Compassion Home, 20 S.
