Linda Sue Smith, age 74 of Grant, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday evening, May 26, 2026 surrounded by her family at her home. She was born on August 6, 1951 in Ludington, Michigan to Wesley & Jean (Bennett) Hackert. Linda was a member of Inspire Church in Fremont, where she liked helping in the kitchen and with vacation bible school. On March 13, 1971 she married George W. Smith at her sister Sharon Finholm’s home, and he survives her along with 2 children: Tammy (Warren) Bills of Fremont, William (fiancée Angelique Sikes) Smith of Grand Rapids; 9 grandchildren: Danielle McQueen, Jonna (Casey) Spitler, Bryanna (Nic) Sprague, Jade (fiance Nathan Busch) Bills, Breanna (Alex) Versluys, Elizabeth Smith, Brianna (Luis Giles) Sikes, Mackenzie (Christian Martinez) Sikes, Davin Sikes; 6 great-grandchildren: Russell Spitler, Rhyder Spitler, Arianna McQueen, Gracie Jo Williams, Maddie Sprague, Christian Sikes; 1 sister, Sharon Finholm; sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law: Linda Summey, Eugene Smith, Terry Freeny, Thomas (Faith) LaCount, Jonathan Schmidt, Daniel (Mala) Schmidt; and by many nieces & nephews that loved her. Linda was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Terry, Duane, & Dennis Hackert; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law: Alvin Finholm, Larry Summey, Joy Schmidt-Dash, and Sy. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 1, 2026 at Inspire Church in Fremont with Pastor Greg Johnson officiating. Visitation will also be at the church from 10-11 AM on Monday. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at church. Suggested Memorials: Harmony Hospice, American Diabetes Association, or American Liver Foundation.
