Lois Jean Witte, age 85 of Fremont, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the Brook of Newaygo. She was born on December 31, 1934 in Fremont, Michigan to Gerrit and Ora (Dykman) Zagers. Lois went to Dayton Center School, and graduated from Fremont High School in 1953. She retired from Gerber Products Company in 1991, and she was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Fremont. Lois was a Detroit Tigers fan, and she enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, and playing dominoes and bingo. She also liked to go to yard sales, and collect antiques. On March 6, 1953 she married Elwin J. Witte and he preceded her in death on October 23, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Lois is survived by her four children: Cathy (William) Westwood of Harrisonburg, VA., Susan Witte of Mt. Morris, MI., Mark Witte of Clarkston, MI., Douglas (Linda) Witte of Fremont, MI.; grandsons: Jason Witte of Suffolk, VA., Aaron Witte of Wilmington, NC., and step-granddaughter, Tara (Carl) Blanford-Mayberry of Muskegon, MI.; great-grandchildren: Madison and Aiden Witte of Sparta, MI., and Ethan Witte of LaCrosse, WI. She is also survived by her sister, Mary (Robert) Derks of Fremont, MI.; her brother-in-law, Marvin (Helen) Witte of Hesperia, MI.; her sister-in-law, Louise (Carl) Pearson of Fremont, MI.; and by many cousins, nieces & nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at the Brook of Newaygo, and at Spectrum Health Hospice for their wonderful care and devotion to Lois. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, a Private Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont with Rev. Drew Sweetman officiating.
