Margaret Mae (VanderPloeg) Rathbun

Mrs. Margaret Mae Rathbun, age 93 of Grand Haven & formerly of Fremont, passed on to Glory on Tuesday evening, January 1, 2019.  She was born on February 10, 1925 in Muskegon, Michigan to Andrew & Tena (VanAndel) VanderPloeg.  Margaret was a charter member of Church of the Living Christ in Fremont.  She had been the church secretary at both Church of the Living Christ and First Reformed Church in Fremont, and she had worked for the City of Fremont as a secretary and treasurer until her retirement.  On August 31, 1951 she married Raymond Rathbun and he preceded her in death on December 7, 2004.  She was also preceded in death by her sisters:  Cornelia VanderPloeg, Dorothy Klassen, & Beatrice VanderPloeg.  Survivors include 4 children:  Kathleen (Eugene) Gazda of Charlotte, North Carolina, Marilyn (Rev John) Koedyker of Grand Haven, Amy (Paul) Anderson of Crown Point, Indiana, Rev R. Van (Terry) Rathbun of Sioux Center, Iowa; 17 grandchildren & 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.  The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Church of the Living Christ in Fremont, where visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Monday.  Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.  Suggested Memorials:  Church of the Living Christ, or Lakeshore Assisted Living Homes.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
