Margery Pifer Obituary

Margery J. Pifer, age 89, passed away on March 3rd at her home in Fremont. She has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her eternal rest promising peace, comfort and unbelievable joy. She was born Margery J. Kinney on May 5, 1932 to Albert "Basil" Kinney and Hester (Snow) Kinney in Portland Michigan. She graduated from Portland High School in 1950 and would later marry Donald L. Bennett, also of Portland on September 29 1951.They would have three children, Pamela S. Bennett in 1952, Douglas S. Bennett in 1956 and David E. Bennett in 1964. She loved her children and worked hard to care for and support them in all their endeavors. When Don passed away from heart disease in 1987, she would spend many years as a widow, living and working in her home town of Portland. She met and married Russell Pifer in 2002 and later moved to Lansing. They spent many years traveling all across America in their travel trailer, visiting most of the continental United States. Russell passed away in 2014 and once again she found herself a widow. Eventually she would move to Fremont to be near her oldest son and daughter-in-law. She loved her time in Fremont, and her gal pals, Carol, Novanda, and Jinny. Marge volunteered at Gerber Hospital and loved to play euchre at the Shack. She was preceded in death by her daughter Pamela, son David, husbands Don Bennett and Russell Pifer, brother James Kinney, sister Georgia Kinney, father Basil Kinney and mother Hester Kinney. Surviving her are son Douglas (Toni) Bennett of Fremont, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all, yet we are glad her suffering has ended. She will be laid to rest in Portland beside her first husband Donald sometime in the spring. Per her request, no formal service is planned. Please consider a contribution to Harbor Hospice of Muskegon in Marge's memory.
