Mrs. Marie Terpstra, age 94 of Fremont, went to be with her Lord and Savior early Monday morning, January 18, 2021. She was born on November 16, 1926 in Mount Prospect, Illinois to James & Tena (Slager) Havenga. Marie was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Fremont. She was well known for her banket, which she gave to many people, and also donated to the Fremont Christian School Auction for many years. Marie also enjoyed traveling, and being a mother and grandmother. On May 2, 1947 she married Henry “Hank” Terpstra and he survives her along with 5 children: Wayne & Miriam Terpstra, Charles & Sandy Terpstra, Bruce & DeDe Terpstra, Ann & Steve Yonker, Alan & Jackie Terpstra; 15 grandchildren & 18 great grandchildren. Marie was preceded in death by her 3 sisters & their husbands: Emma & Garett Bakker, Ann & Paul Kottke, Jeanette & Mitchell Keyzer. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family graveside service will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois on Thursday, January 21, 2021 with Pastor Dave Armstrong officiating. A recording of Marie’s service will be available to watch the next day on the funeral home website. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to The Fremont Area Community Foundation for The Fremont Christian School Endowment Fund, or to Fountain View Retirement Village of Fremont.
