Our dear mother, Marilyn Melvin, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2023, at the age of 90. She was a wonderful mother who’s greatest joy was her family. She enjoyed morning coffee with her kids, grandkids and great grandchildren and when they left she always said “no need to rush off” and “come again”.
Mom had many friends and relatives that loved her dearly. She loved traveling, playing cards, her swim group and ladies lunch group. She also loved being outside and mowing her lawn on her John Deere which she still did this summer. She very much enjoyed large gatherings on the farm. She also adored her dog, Colt “Big Boy”.
She was born December 25, 1932 in Newaygo, MI to Oscar and Etta Anderson. Marilyn was married to Donald J. Melvin on August 31, 1951 and enjoyed 49 plus years of marriage. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Melvin, father, mother, brother, Richard Anderson and his wife Victo, and her son-in-law Jamie McGregor.
She is survived by her children and spouses Sherry McGregor, Cindy and Scott Blamer, Brian and Yvonne Melvin and Jackie Knight and Sarah Rodriguez; 11 grandchildren Megan and Kris Moore, Brittany and Jordan Landau, Jami and Justin Schultz, Jake and Amber Blamer, Mackenzie Ferguson and Trent Rogers, Kristin Melvin and Nate Morley, Josh Melvin and Sam Hall, Brad Melvin and Nikki Quick, Seth and Sarah Knight, Zack and Madelyn Knight, Riley Knight and Josh Justin; and 25 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way. She is also survived by her nieces Beverly (Jerry) Liess and Jane Pickering.
Her funeral will be a private ceremony for family members. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 10, 2023 at 2:00. The celebration will be held at “The Farm” located at 1351 W. 68th Street, Newaygo, MI.
