Mark Cowles Obituary

Mark Cowles 74, of Fremont and Tampa, passed away from a lingering health issue.  Thank you to the Gerber Hospital Emergency Team for their kindness and compassion.

Mark was adventurous, and loved living on the edge. Key West will probably never forget his smile and craziness.  Everyone he met was a potential new friend to him.  He could be generous to fault; just ask Charlie.  He spent most of his life in Fremont, Key West, and Tampa.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and driving very fast in his youth.  He loved music and would often be listening to his I Heart radio station.  But never a person who liked to sing along with the radio. Actually no one has ever heard him sing.

Mark was a veteran.  He served 4 years in the US Coast Guard.  Most of his 4 years were in Jacksonville, FL.  It never failed, each and every time he went out to sea he became seasick for the first 48 hours.  Such irony.

Mark was physically lean his whole life, except when he entered his 70's.  We would rub his Buddha belly for luck.  He did not like this, therefore, we did it all the more!

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Jo and Jerry Cowles, his brother Gene, sister Sherri, and long time companion Teri Folkema Crupp.

He is mourned by his family:  son Bob (Robin) Cowles, daughter Kathy (Freddie) Pider, and son Mark Cowles; brother Charlie (Don and Diane) McCarthy; brother Gene's widowJenna  Ludwig; brother Miles (Ruth) Cowles; sister Becky (John) Bachman; and sister Linda (Jon) Pomeroy; and close friend Micheal Chigas.  He also has 28 great nieces and nephews, and 12 great-great nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him very much.

Vaya con dios Mark.  Until we meet again in heaven . . .
