Mark S. Witte, 64 years old of Clarkston, Michigan and formerly of Fremont, Michigan, passed away after a short illness on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at McLaren Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. He was born on August 21, 1960, in Fremont, Michigan to Elwin J. and Lois (Zagers) Witte. Mark attended Neway School in Newaygo, Michigan, graduating in 1986, and he was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Fremont, Michigan. He was a Special Olympics athlete, earning many medals and awards in poly hockey, bowling, and basketball. Mark enjoyed bowling, games and puzzles, the Detroit Tigers, watching University of Michigan and Michigan State University football games, and anything Spiderman. His most favorite activity was to spend time with his caregiver, Ashley, and going on outings with her to the Dollar Tree and McDonalds. Mark is survived by his sisters: Cathy (William) Westwood of Harrisonburg, VA, Susan Witte of Hillman, MI; by his brother, Douglas (Linda) Witte of Fremont, MI; nephews: Jason Witte of Suffolk, VA, Aaron Witte of Wilmington, NC; step-niece, Tara (Carl) Blanford-Mayberry of Muskegon, MI; great-niece, Madison Witte; great-nephews, Aiden Witte and Ethan Witte; aunts: Louise (Carl) Pearson of Fremont, MI, Mary (Robert) Derks of Fremont, MI; uncle, Marvin (Helen) Witte of Hesperia, MI. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Elwin and Lois Witte; grandparents: George and Minnie Witte, Garrit and Ora Zagers; and by his cousin, Al Derks. The family would like to thank the staff of McLaren Hospice for the care and services they provided to Mark and his family. Also a special thank you to the owners and staff of Hidden Acres Manor and Eastlawn Manor for their loving care of Mark these past 5 years. Cremation has taken place, and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at First Christian Reformed Church in Fremont with Pastor Drew Sweetman officiating. A livestream of the service will be available at First Fremont CRC YouTube page (YouTube.com/@FirstFremontCRC1886). A luncheon and time to visit with the family will immediately follow the service at church, and interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont at 1:30 PM on Saturday.
