Marvin Ekkel, age 90 of Newaygo, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, January 26, 2025. He was born on August 26, 1934 in Garfield Township, Michigan to John Herman & Anna (Jordan) Ekkel. Marvin had been employed at Fremont Co-Op for 30 years until his retirement in 1996, and he attended Country Bible Church. On November 3, 1956 he married Martha Knuver and she survives him along with 8 children: Ronald (Nancy) Ekkel, Ken Ekkel, Linda (Niles) White, Lois (Dan) Eckert, Kathy (John) Eckert, Doug (Shelly) Ekkel, Garry (Tammy) Ekkel, Terry (Amy) Ekkel; son-in-law, Karl Norris; 40 grandchildren & 56 great-grandchildren; brothers & sister: Herman (Joan) Ekkel, Lorraine DeKam, Philip Ekkel; and by many nieces & nephews. Marvin was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Norris; daughter-in-law, Irene Ekkel; sister & her husband, Dorothy & Robert Schropp; infant brother, Marvin Ekkel; sister, Florence Ekkel; sister, Margaret “Midge” Gritman; brother, David A. Ekkel; and by his brother-in-law, Al DeKam. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Fremont with Dr. Steve Witter officiating. Interment will be in Sherman Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, and at the church from 10-11 AM on Wednesday.
