Mary Stadt of Grand Rapids, Michigan & formerly of Fremont, Michigan passed away on January 26, 2026, at the age of 96. She was born on April 26, 1929 to Martin A. & Jennie (Hoogesteger) Haadsma. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend whose warmth and compassion touched everyone who knew her. She had a generous heart and a steady presence. Family and friends were always at the center of her life, and she cared deeply for those she loved. Her life was devoted to her faith in Jesus Christ and living his love by example.
Mary dedicated her life to service at First Reformed Church, teaching Sunday School, serving as President of the Women’s Guild, mentor, church librarian, choir member, and youth leader. She also served her community as a library clerk at Fremont Public Schools and a 4-H volunteer.
Mary enjoyed traveling, sewing, reading, cooking for guests, and entertaining family and friends at 4th Lake in Fremont and at her family cabin in Paradise, Michigan, where many cherished memories were made.
She is survived by her children: Sue (Alan) Nieboer, Nancy (Kurt) Lorenzen, and Jane (Mark) Dezinski; seven grandchildren: Cara (Jason) Jansma, Amy (Shawn) Dooley, Lori (Seth Kaiman) Nieboer, Nicholas (Jodi) Dezinski, Jacob (Nicole) Lorenzen, Holly Dezinski, Jenna (John Paul Rysavy) Dezinski; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, and her beloved husband John J. Stadt November 26, 2016.

Mary will be forever loved and never forgotten. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, June 26, 2026 at First Reformed Church in Fremont. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at church. There will also be a time of visiting with the family at church from 11-12 Noon on Friday.
