Max D. Philo, age 95 of Fremont & Hesperia, passed away peacefully at his daughters home in Norton Shores on Tuesday afternoon, November 12, 2024. He was born on May 31, 1929 in Hesperia, Michigan to James & Jesse (Woodward) Philo. He served in the United States Army during the 1950’s. Max had owned a bicycle shop in Hesperia, and he retired from Gerber Products Company in 1989. He and his wife Dorothy enjoyed spending winters in Florida, and going to old engine shows during the summer in Michigan. Max also liked to do wood carving. On December 4, 1949 he married Dorothy Konkel and she preceded him in death on August 30, 2017. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Bartrum & Arthur Philo. Max is survived by 3 children: Mike (Kelly) Philo of Fremont, Max (Brenda) Philo, Jr. of Greenville, Tammy (Stewart) Rector of Norton Shores. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren & 23 great-grandchildren. A private family service will be held, and interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.
