Maxine (Kunnen) Luchies-Schuiteman

Maxine Luchies-Schuiteman, age 92 went to be with her Lord and Savior in the early hours of March 9, 2022 at the Newaygo County Compassion Home in Fremont, Michigan.

She was born in 1929 in Fremont to Albertus (Ben) & Hazel Dobb Kunnen. Maxine married Willis (Bill) Luchies in 1949. She was married to Bill for 46 years until his passing in 1995. She married Henry-Jim Schuiteman in 2003. He went to be with his Lord in 2004. Maxine was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church until her marriage to Bill Luchies, when she joined First Christian Reformed Church. She taught Sunday School, Bible Studies, Mary-Martha, Friendship, Coffee Break, and served on many committees. She was also president of the local Women's Division of the Bible League for many years. 

Maxine’s love and support will always be remembered with gratitude by her children: Marilyn (Rick) Brinks, Shirley (John) Wezeman, Tom (Peggy) Luchies, Diane Pferdehirt, Bev (Mark) Stephenson, Carl (Margaret) Luchies; her 15 grandchildren; her 25 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law Edie and Margaret Kunnen; and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Bobby, Peter, Albert, Marvin, Ronald and Harvey Kunnen and her sisters-in-law: Anne, Madeline & Eloise Kunnen; her son-in-law: Wayne Pferdehirt; and her grandson: Dylan Stephenson and her many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

On Saturday, March 12 at First Christian Reformed Church of Fremont, visitation with family and friends begins at 10am, funeral service begins at 11am, committal service in the sanctuary held immediately after the funeral, followed by a luncheon in fellowship hall. The services will be officiated by Rev. Mark Stephenson and Rev. Drew Sweetman.
