Myra Joyce Schuiteman, age 85, of Fremont, Michigan went from glory to Glory on Saturday, May 7, 2022 as she received her eternal welcome into Heaven.
Myra ‘Mike’ was the daughter of John and Hilda (Bonzelaar) Koeman and Margaret (Bolt) Koeman . She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her siblings, Paul Koeman, Carol Derks, Jerry Koeman, Della Potts, Shirley (Dale) VanOmen , sister-in-law, Evie Potts and granddaughter, Paige Schuiteman. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 64 years, Ken Schuiteman who survives her along with her three sons, Tom (Stacy) Schuiteman, Todd (Cheryl) Schuiteman, and Mark (Jen) Schuiteman. Her grandchildren, Emmy, Sam, Max, Kelsey, Maxi, Kyle, Kayla, Nathan, Meagan, Trey and Chaise as well as seven great-grandchildren are also left to mourn their most amazing grandmother. She is also survived by her siblings, Wayne and Sandy Koeman as well as brothers and sisters- in-law, John Potts, Ruth Koeman, Marcia (Everett) Helms, and Ken and Nancy Derks. She will also be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews who had deep affection and love for their Aunt Mike.
Mike was a graduate of Holland Christian High School, received her teaching certificate from Calvin College and her Bachelors degree from Western Michigan University. She taught at Fremont Christian School for many years. She was a beloved teacher and though retired for several years, was still remembered, and affectionately known as a favorite teacher by so many of her students. Just as she loved teaching, she loved learning and was not afraid to learn new things right up to her last days here on earth.
Mike loved people and she demonstrated her love for others through her hospitality, praying earnestly for those in need, and the thousands of letters and cards she faithfully sent. She was always up for an adventure, events with family and friends, or just a hot cup of coffee and conversation.
Mostly, Mike would want to be remembered for her reverence and deep love for the Lord. Her faith was her anchor through all life’s trials and she clung steadfastly to the promises of God until the moment she was ushered into the presence of her Lord.
