Nila Marie (Fairchild) Clark

Nila Marie Clark, age 91 of Hesperia, passed away on Saturday afternoon, January 24, 2026 at the Newaygo County Compassion Home in Fremont.  She was born on May 4, 1934 in Fremont, Michigan to John & Faye Richter Fairchild.  Nila had been the accountant for Ace Hardware in Hesperia when her husband had owned & operated that for 30 years until their retirement in 1995.  Nila loved her grandchildren, and she also enjoyed ceramics, sewing, crafting, gardening, camping, and square dancing.  On July 4, 1953 she married Jim Clark and he survives her along with 3 children:  Vickie (Joe) Schmidt, Rich (Mindy) Clark, Tammie (Duane) Dougan; 8 grandchildren:  Danell (Casey) Parzych, Kristen Schmidt, Richard (Michelle) Clark, Cory (Mikki Johnson) Dougan, Joe (Gabie) Schmidt, Tiffany (Aaron) Olson, Christopher Dougan, & Chaz Dougan; 13 great-grandchildren:  James, Ella, & Hunter Parzych, Sophia & Declan Dougan, Lanxton & Jaxton Dougan, Nylah, Laura, & Eliza Schmidt, Reece & Ryker Olson, Emmalyn Clark.  Nila is also survived by her brother, Byron (Iva) Fairchild; brother-in-law, Ted (Barb) Clark; sister-in-law, Kathleen Lindsay; many nieces & nephews, & great-nieces & great-nephews.  Nila was preceded in death by 3 sisters & their husbands:  Jeanette & Cliff Walker, Jenny & Jim Pearson, Peggy & Steve Randolph; brothers-in-law & sister-in-law:  Emery Clark, Eileen & Ray Nelson, Virgil Clark, & Bruce Lindsay.  Visitation will be from 4-6 PM on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home.  There will be no funeral service, and interment will be in the spring at West Hesperia Cemetery.  Suggested Memorial:  The Newaygo County Compassion Home.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
