Nora Irene Assante, age 88 of Fremont, passed away peacefully at her sister Linda’s home in Gladwin, Michigan on Saturday morning, January 8, 2022. She was born on April 6, 1933 in Big Rapids, Michigan to Romer “Romie” & Florence (Cook) Steiner. Nora had been employed by Howmet in Whitehall until her retirement in 1995. She loved her birds and feeding them. Nora was preceded in death by her husbands, Willis “Bill” Jones & Michael J. Assante; son, Steven Jones; brother, Robert Steiner; and sister, Theresa Gill. She is survived by her son, Douglas (Raelene) Jones of Greenville, Michigan; 3 grandchildren: Melissa (Lance) Walker, Jacquelin Jones, & Bobbi Jones; 7 great grandchildren: Grace, Jacob, Cameron, Addison, Jolene, Beau, & Layla; step-son, Michael C. Assante of Comstock Park, Michigan; 1 sister, Linda (Marvin) Holler of Gladwin, Michigan; and by several nieces & nephews. A Graveside Service will be held on her birthday, Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont with Pastor Joel Zuidema officiating. A luncheon & time to visit with the family will immediately follow the service at First Reformed Church in Fremont. Suggested Memorial: True North Community Services.
