Pastor Ron Schmidt, age 88 of Fremont, went Home to be with Jesus on Sunday morning, October 2, 2022. Ron always said he never wanted to retire, he said “I want to work ‘til Jesus comes.” He loved God and he loved people. He wanted to “know God and make God known”. He was born on June 1, 1934 in Lowell, Michigan to Claude & Viola (Onan) Schmidt. Pastor Ron grew up on a dairy farm in Lowell, Michigan, and on June 4, 1955 he married Rita Carson, and then served in the US Army. After being discharged from the army, he began his service in ministry at Cresthaven Pilgrim Holiness Church in Grand Blanc, MI. He also served as the pastor of North Branch Wesleyan Church in North Branch, MI, where he helped build a new church building. He was the founding pastor of Faith Community Church in Lapeer County. He finished his ministry as the pastor of Fremont Wesleyan Church (Inspire Church) in Fremont, MI. He is survived by his loving wife Rita Schmidt and his 2 loving children: James Schmidt, and Rhonda Schmidt; 4 grandchildren: Jathan (Elisabeth) Schmidt, Zachary Schmidt, Connor Schmidt & Gigi Schmidt; 2 great-grandsons, Paxton & Jaron Schmidt; sister, Lucille Deible; sisters-in-law: Grace Schmidt, Jackie (Delos) Schmidt-Tanner, & Marilyn Carson; brother-in-law, Dale (Glenna) Carson; and many nieces & nephews. Pastor Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Meredith Eckman; brothers: William Schmidt, R.A. Schmidt, Wayne Schmidt & Claude Schmidt, Jr.; and brothers-in-law: Carroll Eckman, Charlie Deible, Larry Carson & Lewis Carson. Please join us for a time of visiting with the family at Inspire Church in Fremont from 10-11 AM on Saturday, November 5, 2022 with the Memorial Service immediately following at 11:00 AM.
