Robert Rollins Obituary

Mr. Robert “Bob” A. Rollins, age 87 of Hesperia, went to be with his Lord & Savior on Monday, July 6, 2020.  He was born on April 14, 1933 in Muskegon, Michigan to Roy & Cecelia (Seitz) Rollins.  Bob was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.  He loved his job as a sheet metal worker, and, as a teacher, inspired many college students in sheet metal work at Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek, MI.  It was amazing to see his skilled use of geometry and trigonometry in his work every day.  Bob was employed at Eaton’s Valve Division in Battle Creek for many years, and he retired from Gerber Products Company in Fremont.  He attended Aetna Calvary Church near White Cloud.  Bob loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping, canoeing, and spending time on the river.  He was always fixing and tinkering with things.  On March 10, 1956 he married Betty Smith and she preceded him in death on January 22, 2000.  On February 28, 2004 he married Doris West and she survives him along with 6 children:  David (Pam) Rollins of Denver, CO., James (Leanna) Rollins of Dorr, MI., Rodney (Jane) Rollins of Indianapolis, IN., Royce (Tina) Rollins of Three Rivers, MI., Cheryl (Sam) Andres of Vicksburg, MI., Bryce (Dawn) Rollins of Mattawan, MI.; 11 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren; 3 step-children:  Yvonne (Angel) Davila of Hesperia, Vonda (Ray) Hall of Hesperia, Trudy (Chuck) Renney of Wyoming, MI.; 10 step-grandchildren, 16 step-great grandchildren, & 4 step-great great grandchildren; 2 brothers:  Duane (Linda) Rollins of El Paso, TX., Ronald (Carolyn) Rollins of Leland, NC.; brother-in-law, Jim Fish of Parchment, MI.; sisters-in-law:  Betty Smith of Boca Raton, FL., Ruth Tobin of Muskegon; and by many nieces & nephews.  Bob was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Harriet Rollins; by 1 step-grandchild & 1 step-great grandchild; and by his sister, Roycene Fish.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions related to social distancing, a private visitation will be held on Friday, July 10 2020 at the Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home.  A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at West Hesperia Cemetery with Pastor Ron Workman officiating.  A recording of the graveside service will be available to watch on the funeral home website at a later date.  Suggested Memorial:  The Alzheimer’s Association.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
