Obituary

Ronald G. Compton, Sr., age 77 of Fremont, passed away on Thursday morning, November 4, 2021 at his home.  He was born on January 31, 1944 in Peach Orchard, Arkansas to Charles & Wanda (Forehand) Compton.  Ron was an avid sports fan and played all sports in high school, winning medals and setting records in some events.  He also played softball with several leagues as an adult.  He was a true Michigan fan as well.  Ron enjoyed golf with his friends and playing Euchre, breakfast with the boys every day was a highlight of his week, and he was an avid deer hunter.  Family and friends enjoyed his keen sense of humor and quick wit.  Ron was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam Era, and he was retired from Gerber Products Company.  He was preceded in death by his wives, Sandra & Wanda; infant daughter, Wanda; and by 2 sisters:  Nadine (Arthur still living) Tennant, & Wynona Rash.  He married Leida (Linderer Gustafson) on August 22, 2009 and she survives him along with children:  Rhonda (Bryan) Guerrero, Ron Compton, Jr., Erica Fellows, Lisa (Steve) Rockwell; grandchildren:  Sandy, Leah (Gracie), Alex, Brooke; and great grandchildren, Kayden and Mattox.  He is also survived by Wanda’s children & their families; by his sister, Joyce (Jim) Campbell; 2 half-sisters:  Mary (Randy) Page, & Peggy Guiterrez; and by many nieces & nephews.  Although never having a cat, when he and Leida married he accepted Pringle as his little buddy, and they were inseparable.  He would joke that he had to  marry Leida in order to get Pringle, who preceded him in death.  According to his wishes cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Ron’s Life with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 8, 2021 at the Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Summerfield officiating.  Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.  There will also be a time of visiting with the family at the funeral home from 12-1 PM on Monday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Bellwether Harbor in Fremont in honor of Pringle.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
