Russ Boeskool

Russ Boeskool, 86 years old, of Fremont, MI, passed away on August 27, 2024 at Newaygo County Compassion Home in Fremont.  He was born in 1938 in Sherman Twp., Fremont, MI to John & Hattie (Dannenberg) Boeskool. He attended Graham School through 8th grade, and graduated from Fremont High School in 1956. Russ worked multiple jobs until he started his own carpentry/home repair business.

He married Dixie (Kiester) Boeskool on July 22, 1960, and the couple recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.

He served on the Fremont Fire Department for 14 years and was a trustee on the Dayton Twp. Board.

He was a charter member of Church of the Living Christ where he served as elder and deacon. For the last 15 yrs. he attended Family of God Community Church in Newaygo where he served on the leadership team and faithfully served coffee after morning services.

He is survived by his wife and children Cindy (Gale) Phillips and Rusty (Michelle) Boeskool, grandchildren Kirstin, Johnathan & Collin Boeskool, Dustin (Tara) Carr, Heather Wilson & Kim Rodriguez, and three great-granddaughters, in-laws Denny (Kathy) Kiester, Marilyn Boerman and Arlene Boerman, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother Henrietta, his father-in-law & mother-in-law Frank & Zelpha Kiester, and his brothers Howard Boerman and Chet Boerman, sisters-in-law Mary Larson & Alice Kiester, and brother-in-law Marshall Kiester.

Visitation will be this Friday, August 30, 2024 from 12 noon – 2:00 p.m. with memorial service beginning at 2:00 at Family of God Community Church, 90 Quarterline, Newaygo, MI.

Memorial contributions may be given in Russ’ honor to Newaygo County Compassion Home or Family of God Community Church.
